Assu

The news of an indefinite strike came as a very big suprise to me, I personally thought that federal government has settled whatever deal they have with Asuu, little did I know that nothing practically has been done to the union. i wondered like Alice in wonderland ,after so much research I decided to share with you the reasons behind the indefinite Asuu strike.

The meeting which held on Sunday 4th November at federal university of technology (F.U.T) Akure, where the national executive of the council met and expressed their collective disappointment over the failed promises the government has thrown to them.No progress at all in the implementation of the 2009/FGN/ASUU agreement , memorandum of understanding (Mou 2012 and 2013) and memorandum of action (MOA 2017).

Allow me then to break it down to you.

The union wants the reconstitution of the current Government team to allow a leader that has the interest of the people at heart.

*release the forensic audit on earned academic allowances (EAA)

*payment of outstanding earned allowances and mainstreaming of them into salaries beginning 2018.

*payment of all arrears of shortfall in salaries to all universities that have met the verification requirements of the presidential initiatives on continuous audit (PICA)

*release of university pension fund operational license.

To end the strike 2017 Asuu signed a memorandum of action as against memorandum of understanding, the memorandum of action that was signed 2017 where to be accomplished in six weeks (oct, 2017). But a year has passed and more and nothing has been done.

now lucky enough for us as Abusite, we were already done with session before the strike started . But there were already rumors that our new session is to start immediately so that we will run first semester before election. Either ways we are all at loss and we need Asuu and federal government to come to a conclusion before the year runs out.

Are you still blaming Asuu for the indefinite strike?

do you want A.b.u to cut of from Asuu?

Are you enjoying the strike what’s your opinion on this issue.
